Our workers...
- Are accredited by Telecare Canada
- make a personal commitment to help fellow human beings
- participate in a 50 hour training course
- abide by Telecare rules for confidentially
- commit to at least two four hour shifts on the phone each month
- attend a monthly meeting to keep informed and continue learning

- is provided for Telecare workers.
- training is highly interactive.
- draws on the experience of many experts in the community.

The purpose of our training is...
- to encourage the development of empathy and understanding for those who seek help.
- to develop greater self-awareness.
- to become aware of the resources available to those in need including, community, professional and spiritual resources.
- to demonstrate non-judgmental understanding of people with all of our complex personal, physical, emotional and social needs.
- to learn how to listen attentively and effectively in order to assist others in times of distress and despair.
- to understand the limits of the Telecare worker role and to refer individuals to other agencies and professionals for help appropriately.
- to enjoy the learning process and the interaction with trainers and fellow trainees over the course of the training program.
- to have the ability to apply new skills not only on the phone at Telecare but in your workplace, community and home.
